It has been nearly a month since ActiveTO was first announced, and we’ve seen much of our recent advocacy work come to fruition.
As an organization we are taking pause to reflect on who we are and who we want to be. We acknowledge that we have not created safe and inclusive spaces for Black and racialized communities, Indigenous Peoples, and other marginalized groups.
The shoulders of our city, where COVID-19 is hitting the hardest, remain places that only transit and driving, if you can afford it, are viable, as they have received no pandemic response cycling infrastructure.
Today is one for the history books! Toronto City Council just passed the largest package of cycling infrastructure in our city’s history; 40 km of bike lanes to be installed in a little over a month.
