Extend Danforth

The bike lanes on Danforth Ave were installed in 2020, and made permanent by City Council in 2021. Thousands of riders rely on them on a daily basis, and the bike lanes and cafes contribute to the liveability of the neighbourhood. The Ontario government has been trying to tear out other protected bike lanes in Toronto, on Bloor, Yonge, and University. Cycle Toronto took them to court and won: in July 2025, a judge ruled the province's plan to remove those lanes was unconstitutional. Ontario appealed that ruling. And if they prevail, Danforth could be next. This bike lane needs to be kept, and it needs to be extended past Victoria Park and into Scarborough.

Cycle Toronto believes that a network of safe and connected bike lanes including along Danforth is critical to the vibrancy and accessibility of our city.

Help us tell the city that we love our communities’ bike lanes. We the undersigned support keeping and extending the Danforth bike lane because:

  • Bike lanes are proven to improve the safety of all road users
  • Bike lanes reduce air pollution and boost public health
  • Bike lanes support local businesses
  • Bike lanes relieve traffic congestion and give more people more transportation options
