Angela Barber

Director

Angela Barber is a strategy and operations leader and Director, Product Operations at Home Equity Bank, where she works across teams to improve products, manage risk, and deliver strong customer outcomes. With a background in experience design and service innovation, Angela has led multidisciplinary teams across finance, government, and technology to improve customer experience and operational performance. She previously served a three-year term on the board of Service Design Canada, contributing to strategy, fundraising, and a major international conference in Toronto. A daily cycle commuter and active Cycle Toronto volunteer, Angela is motivated by the organization’s mission and brings a pragmatic, curious mindset and a strong bias to action to the board.

Arman Hamidian

Director

Arman's parents moved to Canada as Iranian refugees, which has been vital in shaping his equity lens in life. He became invested in how that journey affected their health, and generally examining the social determinants of health. He has held research and program manager roles pertaining to health equity, having worked on affordable housing projects at SE Health and as a policy researcher for the Wellesley Institute. He acknowledges the value of being part of a governance structure that sets the strategic directions of a community organization that is focused on livable cities, health, and equity. Through his experience with non-profit organizations, he recognizes the capacity that these organizations can have in amplifying grassroots movements to advance health and wellbeing. Those perspectives have been developed and amplified through his current role as a Management Consultant at Santis Health, and as the Board Chair at Access Alliance for several years. Arman also has a deep passion for public policy having worked as a policy advisor in different Minister's offices for the Ontario government, as well as having completed his Master's of Public Policy, Administration, and Law at York University.

Damien A. Côté

Director

Damien has been in regulatory roles for nearly 15 years. He has adjudicated applications covering all phases of the regulatory lifecycle of national and international energy transportation infrastructure, refugee claims, and now the cost of providing energy in Ontario. Drawing from experience serving on, or otherwise supporting various Boards, Damien seeks to make cycling safely available to all, especially in urban environments. Damien holds degrees in Common Law (JD), Civil Law (LL.L.), Economics (B.A Hons., MA) and Environmental Engineering (B.Eng.) and is a long-standing enthusiast of international long-distance cycling (cyclo-touring).

David Mender

Director

David is a lawyer, cyclist, and a believer in people-centric city design. As Chief Legal Officer at Bluwatr and through his previous global legal leadership roles, David has spent his career advising architecture, engineering, and technology firms through growth and transformation. Outside of the office, he is a year-round cyclist who relies on his bike to move his family around the city. David joins the board to bring his skills in governance, law, risk management, and strategic growth to match his lived experience as a Toronto commuter, advocating for an inclusive, safe, and highly connected cycling network.

David Shellnutt

Director

Dave is a dedicated advocate for individuals who have suffered injuries and injustice. Dave has 8 years of personal injury and human rights law experience and is a founding member of the Biking Lawyer LLP and Toronto Bike Brigade. Aside from being a passionate and accomplished advocate, Dave is also a bike crash victim. Dave cycles year-round in Toronto and is a long-time fan and member of Cycle Toronto.

Lianne Black | Director

Lianne is a seasoned fundraising and nonprofit leader with more than two decades of experience, currently serving as Director of Development at the Catholic Children’s Aid Foundation. She has held senior leadership roles in both Canada and Australia, including as Director of Development for the Jane Goodall Institute of Canada, where she advanced conservation and community engagement initiatives on a national scale.

Grounded in a strong commitment to anti-oppression and social justice, Lianne brings expertise in strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, and board governance to her work.

A lifelong, year-round urban cyclist, she rides for both fitness and transportation, and is equally at home in a cycling studio or commuting across the city. Lianne channels her lived experience and advocacy into Cycle Toronto’s mission—championing safe, inclusive, and vibrant streets for everyone.

Mark Emila

President

Mark is a lifelong Torontonian who has lived in both suburbs and city. A road cyclist and self‑professed bicycle nerd, he studied civil engineering at the University of Toronto and built his career in technology—first in management consulting, then in corporate strategy and operations at a leading Canadian communications and media company. Mark blends an engineer’s rigor with an operator’s pragmatism, championing cycling infrastructure that’s safe, reliable, and easy to use for everyday riders. He appreciates all things mechanical and believes better streets benefit everyone.

Monish Gandhi

Chair

Monish is founder-CEO at Gradient Ascent. By collaborating with talented colleagues, he builds customer-specific artificial intelligence solutions in a responsible and creative manner. He studied Finance & Financial Law (MASc, University of London) and Systems

Design Engineering (BASc, UWaterloo). As an entrepreneur, Monish brings practical experience with growth planning, hiring, partnerships, and empathetic values-driven leadership. Monish has hands-on board experiences with two organizations (chair, fundraising, governance). Monish has also completed courses to be a non-profit board member. Monish’s education and experiences span engineering (IT-software), design thinking, finance, and law.

Péter Sós

Director

Péter, a native of Hungary having lived and biked on 3 continents, is an environmentalist, activist for social causes, a finance professional and a social impact consultant. He has been involved in non-profits from marine conservancy to human rights and community building for many years. As his friends would gladly confirm, Péter takes every opportunity to voice his views on the importance of micromobility and designing people-centric cities.

Princess Doe

Director

Princess (she/her) is a lawyer, social work professional, and public interest advocate who lives and cycles in Toronto. Having grown up in Windsor, Ontario, she discovered cycling as an adult in Toronto and quickly came to see it as a source of independence, community, and connection to the city and sustainable living. Princess' legal practice centres on broad administrative law, governance, and litigation, and has spent much of her career advancing housing, migrant, health, human rights, social justice issues. As a member of the Cycle Toronto Board, she is committed to helping create a city where people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities can travel safely and confidently by bike.

Sarah Lamb

Treasurer

I am a humanitarian leader who believes that being able to learn together creates teams that can respond and experiment to find solutions needed in a rapidly changing world. I have worked with communities in more than 10 countries in Africa and the Middle East and currently support running a Canadian charity.

I hold the role of Deputy Executive Director at Doctors without Borders/ Medecins sans Frontières (MSF) Canada focusing on leadership and internal operations. I am responsible for strategic planning, organizational risk management and work directly with the Fundraising, Finance, IT, Project Management, and EDI/AOAR teams.
