That’s the number of kilometres of new bike lanes proposed by the City for this quarter of 2025.
2025.IE23.6 Cycling Network Plan - Second Quarter Update, which will be debated at Thursday’s Infrastructure and Environment Committee, is composed of just two upgrades and one downgrade.⁽¹⁾ Compare that to a pre-Bill 212 report from this time last year that included 7 km of new lanes or major upgrades.⁽²⁾
As we told Toronto Today, we’ve never seen a cycling report that doesn’t include new bike lanes.⁽³⁾
This just isn’t about Bill 212. These are local decisions being made at a local level.
Tell Infrastructure and Environment Committee and the Mayor that this is a time for leadership:
Not moving forward with the proposal for contraflow bike lanes on Logan-Carlaw, reversing the Council-approved decision to upgrade Jones to protected bike lanes, or approving the Kingston sections of the Danforth-Kingston Complete Streets is not solely the result of provincial overreach.
And while the uncertainty of Bill 212 and our legal challenge lingers, now is the opportunity for Toronto to upgrade our existing cycling network to fix potholes in the bike lanes, and replace all the quick build materials like flexi-posts and pinned curbs to permanent materials like poured concrete.
