Toronto Hydro delivers electricity to approximately 757,000 customers located in the City of Toronto, working 24/7 on grid upgrades, maintenance and emergency response. With wires located above and below the roadway, work zones are required to safely access equipment. In some cases, work zones can block bike lanes, causing an inconvenience for cyclists. While pylons may disrupt the roadway, they’re there for your safety. Crews often work on live wires. Please know that Toronto Hydro makes every effort to minimize disruption to the public by creating a temporary bike lane when space permits, and working as safely and efficiently as possible. When approaching a work zone, do not enter. Merge into traffic carefully, or dismount and walk around. Let’s work together to keep our roads safe.
