With the climate crisis at a tipping point, the City of Toronto's TransformTO climate action strategy is calling for 75% of all trips under 5km be taken on foot, transit, or bike by 2030 – just eight years from now.
In order to reach this ambitious target, we’ll need a lot more people riding bikes.
But for many Torontonians the <5km trips envisioned by TransformTO are not a viable option. Even with the recent expansion of the cycling network, there are still too many parts of the city where making even a short bike trip feels unsafe or impossible. And, in areas closer to the core, bikeways are too often obstructed by construction, parked motor vehicles, or insufficient winter clearing.
Cycle Toronto is working to change this – and you can help. Donate now to unlock more bike trips across the city.
Our goal is to raise $20,000 by December 31 to build a culture of cycling in Toronto and secure a safe cycling future for all. Please donate today.
Your donation will support Cycle Toronto’s vital community-based work, including our Move365 program. Move365 was launched in 2020 to address gaps in safe cycling infrastructure in areas we identified as a priority alongside community partners. Since then, we’ve been working closely with partners to address these major gaps in Toronto’s cycling network and build a culture of cycling across the city.
During the month of December, we'll share stories of impact from community partners and champions of cycling about recent successes as well as opportunities to make Toronto a safer cycling city for all in the year ahead.
