Hi , With a City Council vote on the Yonge complete street pilot later this month, it’s no surprise the opposition is cranking things up. A small group of vocal opponents to the Yonge pilot are calling on City Council to “Be Green. Be Rational. Remove Bike Lanes From Yonge Street.” These opponents are ignoring the promising preliminary data shared by City Staff in Fall 2021, and they are not waiting to see the City’s final report assessing the project. Their reasons to oppose this project are anything but rational. Truth be told, this is a small group of people who have been inconvenienced when they choose to drive down Yonge Street. They want to overrule the vast majority of people and businesses who are benefiting from the safety improvements, beautification, traffic calming, new transport choices, on-street patios, and more. These opponents are already asking the Mayor and key Councillors to oppose this project - will you take a minute to instead share your support for the Yonge complete street pilot? And please share our Connect Yonge petition with your supportive friends and family members now so we can show how popular the project is when the City Council votes on it later this month. Thank you for your support, Kevin Rupasinghe |
